This awning combines all the advantages of a folding arm awning with Leiner’s patented Sunrain technology – making it the ideal solution for sun and rain as it provides shade and can remain extended during wet conditions. This means you can get more from your outdoor areas, year round.
Standard features include a waterproof awning fabric made from high performance PVC which is easy to print on. It can be mounted on sturdy folding arms, and two purlins support the fabric awning to prevent it from sagging. Kept taut, the fabric allows rainwater to drain off – from an inclination of just 5 degrees (7.5 degrees with coupled systems). The front profile also has an integrated rain gutter.
The arm brackets and folding arms are made from hardened aluminium. The special manufacturing process ensures the awning components are resistant, but also ensures they are safe and durable.
Choice of operating systems
While the standard version of this awning comes with an electric motor, you also have the option of manual operation, or of a radio-controlled motor thanks to Somfy RTS wireless technology. This wireless technology means that not only can the awning be extended and retracted using the remote control, but you can also use your smartphone if necessary (note: additional accessories required).
On request, the Sunrain can also be operated via a Safety Motion emergency manual crank. This manual operation can be added as a back-up control if the radio-controlled or electric options are not operational.
The radio-controlled motor can also be fitted with a 3D sensor. Attached to the front profile, the sensor responds to the intensity of the movement of the awning, retracting it automatically if the wind gets too strong. Please note: an electronic control will not protect your awning from sudden strong gusts of wind.
Details
The SUNRAIN is available in a maximum width of 650 cm and a maximum projection of 400 cm, coupled systems with a slit cover in a maximum width of 1,950 cm and a maximum projection of 400 cm. As a standard, the awning is equipped with an electric motor.
The SUNRAIN comes in the standard colours white (RAL 9010) or in one of the 18 LEINER LOUNGE fine structured finishes. We can also supply them in any preferred RAL colour for an additional charge.

Wind Protect System
The Wind Protect System WPS is an innovation of LEINER and was originally developed for the more stringent requirements of awnings for cafés and restaurants. The Wind Protect System WPS is now also available for the SUNRAIN: fixable supports on the front profile significantly enhance the wind stability of your awning. Depending on the size of the awning, the WPS offers protection from winds up to wind strength 8 – even in the event of sudden gusts of wind.
Hood profile
The SUNRAIN can be fitted with a fixed hood profile to maintain the enjoyment of the quality of the awning fabric as long as possible.
Lightning
The SUNRAIN is optionally available with a LED lighting system integrated in the folding arms. This is wirelessly dimmable. The indirect light creates a moody atmosphere.
Drive
A radio-controlled motor is available instead of an electric motor in the standard version. The Somfy io wireless technology means that not only can the awning be extended and retracted using the remote control, but you can also use your smartphone to control it if necessary. The io wireless system allows your awning to be integrated into your smart home. On request, the SUNRAIN can also be operated manually with a crank (lower price).
SAFETY MOTION
The SAFETY MOTION emergency manual drive is the last-resort concept for your awning – should the radio-controlled motor ever go on strike, the SUNRAIN can be closed manually by crank with the emergency manual drive.

Control
Fully automated controls complement the electric drive and offer additional comfort and safety as sun and wind monitors, automatically extending or retracting your awning according to the sunlight or wind strength, even when you are not at home. Please note, however, that an electronic control will not protect your awning from sudden strong gusts of wind. An alternative is the manual Wind Protect System WPS. This optional extra variant stabilises your awning and also absorbs the sudden loads produced by gusts.
Heater
A heater allows you to sit out longer on those balmy summer evenings and enjoy the pleasant warmth under your awning. The heaters are also available in one of our 18 LEINER LOUNGE colours to match the awning. You also have the option of operating it wirelessly and integrating it into your smart home.
CALYPSO ROLL side awning
The CALYPSO ROLL side awning protects against both sunlight from the side and inquisitive glances – making it the perfect complement to the SUNRAIN for your terrace or balcony. The side awning protects also against light wind.
